Alvin Grossman, Ph.D

Dr. Grossman is currently the publisher of Doral Publishing, a leading publisher of Dog Books. He is licensed by the American Kennel Club to judge all of the breeds in the Sporting (Gun Dog) Group.

With his late wife, they were breeders of American Cocker Spaniels from 1949 until 1970. They bred 25 Champions in 24 litters. Among them were Best in Show and Group winners. In 1956-66, they had a B/T dog who was a top 10 Breed winner. This dog was also top sire of the year in 1967 and 1968.

He began judging in 1973. Among his assignments has been officiating at the American Spaniel Club National Show on four occasions. Celebrated assignments include the World Show in Amsterdam, the Paris International and the Beverly Hills Kennel Club. He has also judged the English Setter, Golden Retriever and Vizsla National Specialties. He has judged the Canadian National Cocker Specialty on two occasions.

His judging career has taken him to the following countries: Australia (2X), Canada (6X), Denmark, England (4X), Finland, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Netherlands (2X), New Zealand, Philippines, Russia, Sweden (2X) and Taiwan.

To date, he has written five dog books and lectured widely on genetics, anatomy, judging and gait of the dog. Dr. Grossman is a syndicated coloumnist for 29 Breed magazines and also writes for the Canine Chronicle. He has won numerous awards for his writing from the Dog Writer's Association of America.

Elected offices include three terms as President of the American Spaniel Club and two terms as President of the U.S. Lakeland Terrier Association. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Senior Conformation Judges Association.
